YES, It Is "JIM BARNARD" from the USA
Below are the emails Jim and I sent to each other.
This is now all confirmed, and JIM BARNARD does own "The Oldest Raleigh
Chopper In The World". To see the picture of this find CLICK

Hi Mark!
I have come up with one of the other 68 prototype choppers. Its ser
# 0416291. Is yours a lower number? I
am not sure who has the "Oldest" chopper bragging rights. How does one
read these ser #s ? It is not likely that these are a strait count as I
understand that there are only a handful in existance. Has anyone else come
foward with a prototype? Mine in "chopper yellow" and needs some
repairing on the seat tube as it has broken away from the bracket.
I paid $75 US but , needless to say, would have gone a bit higher.
Jim
Hi
Jim,
Can you email me a picture of this bike. The number on my bike is 416350
so if you have an older one, not only do you now have the oldest Raleigh Chopper
in the world, but you can also claim your £100 reward from me.
Would you sell the bike?
Please email a picture over, with the number on it.
Thanks
Mark

Mark!
See attached pics:
68left; Here it is! AND in that God awful, common as farts in a Mexican
laundramat, "Chopper Yellow".
68right; The other side. Still yellow.
early.clamp.bolt; Info pic for your resto.
frame.break; Note the cable plate is seperated from the seat tube. There is also
a bad repair at each sissy stay at the drop out. Obvious "Fat Kid
Damage".
front.cable.hole; This is what caught my eye as I walked through Copake Auction
swap field (whilst I was spodda be working 50 miles away...)
incorrect.rear.wheel; Note the Bendix wheel with coaster brake. Pitty it is not
a dated S/A, as I may have to rob the 68 wheel of my 68 fireball (see next
email).
68rear.brake; This is such a nice feature that I achieved a stiffwich AND
maintain it still!
seat.back; This is the back of the seat!
serial.number w/2; Here is the 100 pound question is this one older that
"Knickers find" that you are restoring so nicely? I almost hope not,
because if it is Daren said he would beat me up if I were to change the color of
the oldest [known] chopper to carmine.
What do you think?
Jim
